Scholarships
1. Academic Scholarships
A limited number of academic scholarships are awarded based on performance in the Entrance Examination written annually in February.
Eligibility: All boys in Grade 7 who intend to enter Grade 8 the following year.
Awards:
- The Bishops Scholarship & Theron Scholarship, covering up to 50% of tuition fees
- Other scholarships, covering between 20% and 33% of tuition fees
- The Hoffman Stempel Bursary, awarded each year to the son of an OD who is a talented all-rounder and has performed well in the Entrance Exam. Financial need is also taken into consideration for this award.
Conditions: Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance. The Bishops Scholarship also considers character, leadership potential, and cultural and sporting ability.
All awards are valid until Grade 12, provided the student's conduct and performance remain satisfactory.
Bishops reserves the right not to award scholarships or not to award them to the full extent in any given year.
2. Music Scholarships
Music scholarships are available for musically talented boys enrolling in Grade 8 in 2025. Candidates must have achieved a high standard of performance, at least Grade 4 (ABRSM, Trinity, or Unisa), on a recognized instrument or voice (excluding recorder or electronic keyboard).
Awards range from 10% to 70% of academic fees annually, and tuition on two instruments/voice is included.

3. Sports Scholarships
Sports scholarships are offered to talented athletes entering Grade 8 who show exceptional ability in one or more sports and preferably have provincial-level experience. Preference is given to athletes in major team sports played at the College.
Applicants must apply to the College, write the Bishops Entrance Exam in Grade 7, and then complete the scholarship application form.
Sports scholarships are reviewed annually to ensure the student’s academic and athletic performance aligns with the award's conditions.
